MODULE 4:

Success, Failure and Outcomes

In this module we are covering the topics of Success, Failure and Outcomes. The driving question is, “What is God’s expectation on us on in terms of producing outcomes on the fostering journey?” We’ll discuss how the gospel redefines our understanding of what success and failure is on the journey of fostering - and of life.

Video: Success, Failure and Outcomes

As we discussed in Module 1, the world clearly tells us our success as men is determined by the outcomes we are able to produce. Successful men produce good results; failures don’t. However, in the counterintuitive nature of the Kingdom of God we see a complete re-scripting of how we define success and failure - and ultimately pursue outcomes in whatever it is God has called us to do.

Watch as Jason shares four key things we need to hold onto in order to reframe our understanding of failure and success on the foster parenting journey, while trusting God to produce outcomes that only He can.

When you ask me what’s been the greatest joy I’ve had as a foster dad, it is experiencing those little moments - when you just know that whatever you’re doing, in spite of how difficult it is - is having a real impact on a real human being who will be better off because of you being willing to answer the call that God has put on your heart.

Faithfulness, Foster Care and Trusting God with the Rest

God is more pleased by our willingness to be faithful along the journey than He is concerned about our ability to achieve a certain outcome through it.

Foster Care, Adoption and Confronting the Fear of Not Having What it Takes

The good news is that God doesn’t invite us into this expecting that we will always have “what it takes”, but He does bring us into this promising that when we don’t, He still does. That’s our hope and assurance.

Foster Care, Adoption and Loving Out of Our Poverty

What you are doing is more than what it feels like today or what it looks like today or how good or bad you think you are at it today.
