MODULE 1:
Gospel, Identity and Incarnation
In this first module we are covering the topics of Gospel, Identity and Incarnation. The driving question is, “How does the gospel inform who we are and how we live as men?” We’ll discuss how the gospel both informs our identity as men in the work of Jesus and our activity as men moving towards hard places and broken people around us
Video: “A Collision of Narratives”
In his book, Preaching, author and pastor Tim Keller says, “The key to preaching to a culture…is to identify its baseline cultural narratives.” In other words, to truly understand the beauty and implications of the gospel we have to understand both what it preaches while also being very much in tune with what the narrative of our culture is preaching. We do this to identify any points of misalignment - where the gospel narrative challenges, confronts and redeems the cultural narrative.
Watch as Jason unpacks the cultural narrative we as men live within and how the gospel narrative preaches something entirely different and better to us.

Dad Interview: Ryan MacDonald
Ryan is a pastor, husband and dad. Foster care has been a part of their marriage and family from early on. You’ll be encouraged by Ryan’s ability to articulate their foster parenting journey with beautiful clarity and deep gospel truth.
“It’s profoundly true that we don’t have the resources we think we have as husbands and fathers. And at one point in your marriage and in your parenting you will hit that wall when you realize you actually can’t have everything figured out. And I think the gift of foster care is it gets us to the wall early. That’s a special sacred place because then we go to Christ to draw those resources and draw that strength we need.”

Foster Care, Incarnation and the Power of Proximity
Read “Foster Care, Incarnation and the Power of Proximity” for a short recap of what it means for us to “move towards” and not away - to be men of proximity - because that’s who Jesus has been for us.
